Roo!

This one is gonna be rusty. Multitude of reasons attribute to the rustiness. A night spent roaming the streets of Bangalore, sipping delicious road-side "chai" at an unearthly hour, battling mosquitoes, cracking and comprehending jokes caused by extreme sleep deprivation, fighting with every ounce of left over energy to drive a super-cockroach out of the bath room, decking up at wee hours irrespective of the limited audience, begging for beverages to stop our eye lids from meeting; there you go - a short animated description of my first ever night out! As I re-read the above words I feel I may not have done enough justice. But come on, cut me some slack - this poor soul hasn't slept the whole night! (Lets discount the fact that I had my body pasted to the bed for a good part of the day today!)

Now that I am done hyping the whole episode, lemme tell you the real reason behind the "night-out". For those who are regulars here, you may recollect a post where I talk about a few angels in my life. Last night was dedicated to one of them - the best human being I have ever come across, an angel in true meaning of the term, a girl who redefines humanity (nopes, I am not going overboard and I can have people vouch for this one!)

Out of sheer distress comes the cause of your happiness and happy I was riding on the pillion seat of the biker girl. Happy I was, through a series of unforgettable (almost unimaginable) situations, be it stress testing a scooty for its pace or facing a principal who had clearly left his brains at home or taking turns to wake up each other to prepare for a Godforsaken exam or taking a walk whilst hunting for masca-chasca biscuits!

Without really spending a lot of thought I christened her Roo - my jittery attempt at cutting short a highly intellectual name. And boy oh boy did the name stick around! She's perhaps the most simplest person on earth, her humbleness will not go unnoticed (nor will her long legs!) The biker girl kicks ass whether on bike or on her strong long legs. Over 6 years of knowing each other, being inseparable in college (yup, hand over shoulders in ALL the photos!) we have come a long way. When someone this special decides to walk down the road of commitment, I am always left wondering. How can there be a "better half" to someone who's the best in the world! I guess my questions are answered today!

As I see this tomboy transform into a beautiful maiden holding hands with a man of her dreams, I know that  this is just a beginning to a beautiful journey - a journey of love, a journey of togetherness, probably the only road trip she hasn't been on till date! I see the sparkle in your eyes, I see the contentment behind the excitement, I see the love behind the curtain of shyness, I see a blissful life ahead!

Roo, you deserve the moon, the stars and everything this universe has to offer! You a "daaaaaarling" (if only you all could see her cringing now!). Don't ever be afraid to take what's yours. Words may not always help you describe things. So, I am not even gonna attempt on showing you how beautiful you are. Here's wishing you a lifetime of bliss. (May you be the success couple that change my opinion on marriage!)

P.S: You still have to pay me for unleashing the "Sand-mundu-man" on FG and moi! Ahaaaa

Earthling!!

There are certain people in our lives who quite frankly are a pain in the arse! They correct your speech, improvise you language, point your flaws at ever single opportunity. They bitch about you IN YOUR FACE. Even better, talk about the same behind your back. They yell at you when you don't take care of their belongings and yell even more when you do. They put you through long chats (audio/visual) telling you what a big dumb-ass you are. They question your reasoning, doubt your decisions, criticize your every move!

They think you are annoying and crazy enough to push their buttons! Every action of yours is termed as childish by them. They blast you for showing them the mirror, expect the world out of you but throw water on all your expectations. They think you are not cool enough to be their friend but eventually come crashing on you coz.. hmm.. cozz.. well.. quite frankly they have nobody else to crash upon! (ouchh.. did that hurt???)

I know you are reading this.. I bloody well know you are. Yes you.. i mean YOU! I just got off the phone with you and you made me swear not to rip any of your patented dialogues and post them on my blog! Well.. ha ha on you.. they are not worth being made fun of here! I know you are offended now. But you know what?? You drive almost as well as I do! I know that will keep your ego boosted for a while. So lemme continue with the post.

So.. where was I? Ya.. those certain people. They give more importance to a child who just "happened" to be there on their special day and turn a blinds eye on you, when you've left a zillion important things just to make it there! (I am still annoyed F.Y.I) To make matters worse, they donate your soft toys to the very same child! (who by the way I am gonna torture the next time I meet!)

They think I am a lunatic. Probably they are right! Yes.. YOU.. you are right. Every time I think I need someone sane to talk to, I think of the most insane, egotistic, self-centered, "solid" earthling. (Ha ha my sweet revenge..)

I really don't know.. what is it about these people that makes you wanna kill them when they are around and makes you wanna kill yourself for not having them around? I have a lot of such cases in my list, but I don't know why YOU top it. Nopes.. I am not praising you, I think you are plain high headed. But then again.. what a pretty head! The same head I would like to chop every time YOU open that mouth and speak with such command that now, I wanna let go off your head and pull your tongue for speaking better than moi!

For all of you who've come this far in the post, I am trying to describe my love-hate relationship here! I might have confused you, but trust me if you knew the person I am taking about then I would probably be the hero you all aspire to be!

So we are back to YOU. Waiting for a compliment huh? You should've thought of that before you interrupted my movie time. For all the Jurassic Parks, Mummy returns and Hangovers you have cost me telling you are worth it, well.. you are not! YOU are worth a lot more! Ya.. a person(calling you this for lack of better words) who made me realize I've principles (and strong ones that too!!), YOU are worth more than you can imagine.  Not like I needed you to show me I had a spine, you know! Lemme tell you one thing, for a person who claims to have half a back, you have the strongest spine ever! Alas, you mental ability is inversely proportional to the strength of you spine! Oh.. did I mention you are a great driver!

And your jokes.. what is with them? Seriously Earthling, small fish being eaten by a bigger fish NOT FUNNY! But you reciting it like a poem and anticipating an uproar of laughter FUNNY. Your mom not remembering my first name not appreciated, the reputation you have earned coz me.. APPLAUDS! (I stand up, gentle bow!)

Keeping the length of this post in check, I am gonna have to create volumes of this post!

Before you book your ticket for the first flight back lemme tell you, as in YOU are really precious. For all the scenes you have created, I have loved playing a part. For all the names you have given me, I somehow can't get enough. For all the lectures you've unleashed on me, with ringing ear drums, I can listen to them till the end of the world (which I am hoping is soon!). For all the times you have turned the world against me and jumped by my side to take me through, I could crush you with a "gentle" hug! For proving to me that beauty can turn into a beast in the photos and making me feel beautiful every single moment. Thanks for introducing and re-introducing me to myself every time I lost track. YOU are the kinda trouble I would like to be a part off (see.. I've better lines to rip off than yours).

P.S: To be read midst of your assignments.. and wait.. almost forgot.. love you loads Earthling!

Creepy Guy

Disclaimer : This post is dedicated to one of the finest creepy guys in my life!

"How can we be happy if someone in the family is sad?", he said.

I was an emotional wreck. But  these words managed to divert my attention for a bit.

Whaaaaat?? I am his family? Gosh! Do I cry out aloud or do I be happy and welcome myself to whatever creepy thing I am supposedly a part off??

I look at the pair of hot legs carrying a smoking hot lady and I think, family it is! So there we were, a family - a kid, a hot moma and the creepy guy.

This incident marked the first experience of my latest and probably one of the best gangs I've ever had. It all started with one guy.  There were additions to the family in terms of conjoined twins, again showed way by the creepy guy. There are a plenty of names I use generously to indicate his presence - Cheap, Irritating, Annoying, Cheap.. oh wait, I've already covered that! I think he would be begging me to stop! So lemme  zero down on one name - CREEPY GUY! He would vehemently disagree, but then these are the benefits I get for owning the blog!

Had I known he would cling to my life for this long, I would have said no to "Love Aaj Kal" (or would I??) Had I known what a creepy smile would be flashed, I would've have never asked him to smile!
Had I known what a fantastic driver he is (shivers!), I would not have the guts to sit in that sassy thing he owns! (hot moma agrees!!)

<sigh> Now that I've committed more mistakes than I probably should have and there's no turning back, I might as well go ahead and congratulate myself for all the mistakes! For had it not been for them, I would've lost out on an all in one friend/philosopher/photographer/joker/teacher/punching-bag/partner in crime and believe me it would've been my loss entirely!

From feeding me junk and making me miss my gym to commenting on my increasing waistline - he's committed all the sins a man probably can! But then again, by getting me coffee at unearthly hours, nursing my injuries and lending me an ear when it mattered the most, he has more than made up for that!

The amount of perseverance in this guy has to be applauded. He's almost like a reincarnated form of Mother Teresa! He's fought every attempt made to take him out of my life until I shrugged my shoulder and said, "Fine dude, you win!" I couldn't be happier that he did win. "You are like a rose", he said, "we just need to learn how to deal with the thorns to have you in our lives". Dealing with those thorns is not an easy job, but what can i say to a person who's hell bent on getting pricked to keep something which probably isn't all that worthy, in his life! There's indeed nothing much you can say to a person, who holds your happiness at such esteemed heights and ensures your smile never leaves you (even if its for good!!!)

There was a time when the only thing i liked about him was his i20! (and no I wasn't alone!) But now that the i20 is gone, I am forced to open my eyes to this fantastic personality who has enhanced my life in more ways than I can mention. From laughing at people's miseries, to going out of our ways creating new miseries for them, we have done it all! (I still hope i20 is gonna be shared between dude and moi!)

Creepster, I haven't seen a person more giving than you. I don't know how you do it, but you are simply the best at it. From making the devil wear a "parda" (i still don't believe you said that!) to singing loudly in the middle of the bay, you have been a 24/7 entertainment channel! To see you chasing your dreams is so endearing. You make me look beautiful in your photos (oh yeah people.. kick-ass photographer!!) but you make me feel even better by being a part of my journey.

Here's to your life, which I hope would be more beautiful than the most beautiful pic you've ever clicked (me on the enfield!). Wish you a HAPPY HAPPY BDAY!

P.S: I am bad with dates. Please refer this post every time I fail to call you on this day!

Swan Princess

For all those who believe in God - God couldn't be everywhere, every time. Hence he created angels to watch you, to help you succeed, to cushion you when you fall, to hold your hand and get you back on your feet, to give you the gentle push you need, to propel you ahead. I have been blessed with many such angels, who've guarded me with their lives, who's endless support has been my wall, who've pillars of my strength. This post is about one of them.

Year 2003, First semester BE ECE, Physics lab:

Lecturer : All of you form groups of 2 and conduct the experiment.

Being the little, shy me back then (I know, hard to believe now!!!), I look around with a blank expression. Someone choose me please!!!
I saw people pairing up, like they knew each other for ages! Suddenly my eyes fell on this lovely lady, who sported a similar blank expression on her face. Both of us gave an acknowledgement nod to one another and there you go.. my first ever lab partner!

It hardly took me any time to warm up to her, as her innocence was extremely endearing. Till date I keep wondering, how can someone so beautiful have such a clean heart! - A quality, that I am sure all of you agree, is quite frankly ENDANGERED!! Her focus in life is as brilliant as it can get. (I wish I had 10% of it! sob sob)

The "swan princess" as I call her, has been an integral part of my life since that day in the lab. The "head and bushy bushy tail", "hanging upside down", "is this an age to faint" makes absolute sense with her. (If you haven't understood what the above phrases mean, then probably you are not supposed to! please read further!)

Our long walks in the college grounds, even longer talks in our "sacred" midnight convos, joint attacks on a certain "earthling" I know are memories that I shall always cherish!

Often, I would be apprehensive about her life ahead. Someone with this kinda purity and innocence deserved someone equally special to hold her hand and share her life. Someone who knew the worth of what he had and would treasure her for life. Someone who would consider her smile precious but her tears priceless and would never let them trickle down. All my fears vanished when he did make an entry! My first few words to him were "take care of her". I never had to say those words again, it was pointless! She was his queen from then, for ever.

I watched her on that stage, greeting people with her beautiful smile, knowing a lotta things were about to change and wishing the change is acceptable! Things have gone topsy-turvy since then. But its only managed to strengthen our friendship. As I see her today, living her dream, striving to make it the best she can, I feel extremely proud to be a part of her journey.

Today, the happy couple celebrate 3 years of happiness. I find it tough to digest that its already been this long! In these 3 years, I've seen her grow from a girl to a woman, a journey well supported and enriched by her other half (won't call it better coz you two are beyond that!!) Her madness is still intact (Mr "Swan Princess", my condolences are with you!!)

So here's to one of the best couples and best individuals I've had the good fortune to know, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! I wish you a lifetime of bliss and good luck!

P.S : Ting ding ding

Raven haired beauty

My eyes scanned the crowd, my fellow mates in hell (realization dawned a few classes later!), my class for the next 3 months. There she was, sitting in a corner, making no attempt to talk to anyone and hushing anyone who attempted to talk to her! (or so I thought!) There was something about this striking raven haired beauty which caught my attention. I could look at her through out the class and still not figure out what made her stand apart!

A question out of the blue, took the entire class by surprise. (I don't remember what it was, but there were many more "out of the blue" moments that were followed by some really embarrassing ones. So for the benefit of readers,I shall not get into those!) Alright.. now it was her turn to answer. Oh no!! OH NOO!!! I don't wanna listen!! Beauty is seldom accompanied with brains. Don't spoil this pretty picture for me. Don't say a word and let me assume your different!

A few milli seconds later, I was a little taken aback by what I saw. Hope still persists!! Potent combo of beauty with brains was looking right into "Lady Hitler's" eyes. Man, that girl can kick butts!! (that is definitely an understatement!)

Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and before we knew it, we had thrived under Lady Hitler's reign. But I still hadn't exchanged a single word with the enchantress. We all said our "good byes", "keep in touch", "lets catch up sometime" and a lot of "blah blahs". She said nothing.

Almost a year later, I see her online. Alrightie... She can't eat me over chat! I was in for a big surprise! I went in expecting a certain amount of arrogance but all I got was an extremely amicable and pleasant person on the other side. How can I be so wrong? She hardly acknowledged anyone back then? By the end of our chat I was quite convinced about the failure of my judging abilities (yes, for the nth time now!). A few more times and now, I am completely convinced!

It now dawns on me, I missed having a wonderful friend back then. But as they say, better late than never! We'are always wasting our time judging others than giving them a chance. Sometimes its that one chance that makes a world of difference. Life does not usually give you a second chance. You might get loads of opportunities but you rarely find the same one knocking your door twice. So you've to recognize the opportunities when they are staring you right in your eyes. Relationships work in similar fashion. You need to recognize it when you see it and make all the efforts you can before saying "I quit".

Sometimes people whom you least expected, come into your lives when you least expected and enrich it with their very presence. Who are these people? Where did they come from? How did they know you needed them? Well, I don't have an answer. I guess the universe does conspire to give you what you really want!

It's quite strange, how life unfolds. Just when you think that you have lost all you have, you find someone that you didn't even know you needed! This someone may not be what you wanted from life, but they're enough to keep you going on your journey of "getting there".

As I look at her now, she depicts to me, a woman of today, a woman of substance, a woman waiting to be heard. I may not know her very well, but I know her enough to conclude that she is indeed precious. A loving wife, a doting mother, an amazing friend and above all a wonderful human being. She brings with her, a sophistication of a lady, heart of a child, beauty of a goddess and well.. mind of her own!

P.S : My raven haired beauty, this one is for you.
