My eyes scanned the crowd, my fellow mates in hell (realization dawned a few classes later!), my class for the next 3 months. There she was, sitting in a corner, making no attempt to talk to anyone and hushing anyone who attempted to talk to her! (or so I thought!) There was something about this striking raven haired beauty which caught my attention. I could look at her through out the class and still not figure out what made her stand apart!
A question out of the blue, took the entire class by surprise. (I don't remember what it was, but there were many more "out of the blue" moments that were followed by some really embarrassing ones. So for the benefit of readers,I shall not get into those!) Alright.. now it was her turn to answer. Oh no!! OH NOO!!! I don't wanna listen!! Beauty is seldom accompanied with brains. Don't spoil this pretty picture for me. Don't say a word and let me assume your different!
A few milli seconds later, I was a little taken aback by what I saw. Hope still persists!! Potent combo of beauty with brains was looking right into "Lady Hitler's" eyes. Man, that girl can kick butts!! (that is definitely an understatement!)
Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and before we knew it, we had thrived under Lady Hitler's reign. But I still hadn't exchanged a single word with the enchantress. We all said our "good byes", "keep in touch", "lets catch up sometime" and a lot of "blah blahs". She said nothing.
Almost a year later, I see her online. Alrightie... She can't eat me over chat! I was in for a big surprise! I went in expecting a certain amount of arrogance but all I got was an extremely amicable and pleasant person on the other side. How can I be so wrong? She hardly acknowledged anyone back then? By the end of our chat I was quite convinced about the failure of my judging abilities (yes, for the nth time now!). A few more times and now, I am completely convinced!
It now dawns on me, I missed having a wonderful friend back then. But as they say, better late than never! We'are always wasting our time judging others than giving them a chance. Sometimes its that one chance that makes a world of difference. Life does not usually give you a second chance. You might get loads of opportunities but you rarely find the same one knocking your door twice. So you've to recognize the opportunities when they are staring you right in your eyes. Relationships work in similar fashion. You need to recognize it when you see it and make all the efforts you can before saying "I quit".
Sometimes people whom you least expected, come into your lives when you least expected and enrich it with their very presence. Who are these people? Where did they come from? How did they know you needed them? Well, I don't have an answer. I guess the universe does conspire to give you what you really want!
It's quite strange, how life unfolds. Just when you think that you have lost all you have, you find someone that you didn't even know you needed! This someone may not be what you wanted from life, but they're enough to keep you going on your journey of "getting there".

As I look at her now, she depicts to me, a woman of today, a woman of substance, a woman waiting to be heard. I may not know her very well, but I know her enough to conclude that she is indeed precious. A loving wife, a doting mother, an amazing friend and above all a wonderful human being. She brings with her, a sophistication of a lady, heart of a child, beauty of a goddess and well.. mind of her own!
